Champagne Drinks for the Perfect Holiday Brunch
You’ve got the quiche, the ambrosia, the eggs in a basket. You’ve even got the fancy tableware out. You may have even decorated the table with a dash of glitter or sparkling stars. Everything’s ready for your big holiday brunch—but what about the drinks?
Sure, you can serve orange juice and iced tea if you like (add a bit of Sprite in the former for a fancy drink to give the kiddos), but if you’re aiming for a classy adult drink, why not add some champagne to the table? Here are a few tasty champagne treats you can use for your holiday feast. All of these drinks are meant to be served immediately.
Mimosa
When I think of a mimosa, I always think of the scene in Rat Race where Whoopi Goldberg and Lanei Chapman, upon discovering that they are mother and daughter, both order a mimosa. It’s a pretty funny movie, if you want to check it out! Here’s how to make the delicious (and deliciously easy to make) drink:
Pour 4 ounces of champagne or sparkling wine into a champagne flute. Add two ounces of freshly squeezed orange juice (or whatever kind you have on hand). Gently stir with a long spoon. Garnish with a crisp mint sprig.
Grand Mimosa
Create the drink with the ingredients called for above, and add a tablespoon of orange-flavored liqueur, such as Grand Mariner.
Classic Champagne Cocktail
Pour 5 ounces of chilled champagne into a champagne flute. Drop 3 Angostura bitters onto a solid sugar cube, then drop the cube into the glass.
Kir Royale
This popular French cocktail has a multitude of variations. Here is a basic, simple way to make the drink.
Pour 2 Tablespoons of crème de cassis into a chilled champagne flute. Add 5 ounces of champagne (or sparkling wine or cider) and serve.
Bellini
The Bellini is probably my favorite champagne-based drink. And why wouldn’t it be, with its sweet peachy goodness? If you don’t like peaches, you can always substitute a bit of fresh grape juice for a grape twist instead.
Pour 2 ounces of chilled peach nectar into a champagne flute. Top with 4 ounces of champagne and gently stir with a long spoon.
